It’s a little late to update about last weekend but with all the tests and papers I have due, this post had to wait. Morley is up and running and we had our first weekend. There were some equipment issues last week that delayed the finishing of the track. My Dad was out there last Saturday really early in the morning to finish the packing of the first and last straight. The packer that was dropped off had the power set to low and thus could not get up and over any of the jumps. It took a while for the equipment guy to come out and fix it up, but when he finally did the packer did the job.
The training did not get underway until about 11:30 but we made up for lost time. The track, like all tracks that have just been built was soft in some areas and needed some extra attention. With the group of dads that were watering and working on the track as the kids rode, the track really came together. By the end of the day the track was great, and from what I hear it got even better with the Sunday riding.
This weekend we don’t have to deal with any track repair so training will start on time at 10:00am. The only thing we need to deal with this weekend is the cold outside which is brutal with the wind off the mountains. However, the building is heated and is very comfortable for the riders on the track and is not so bad for the parents who have jackets on.
We had about 30 kids show up for the training which is the number I need to break even with the building rental, so the Winter training looks promising. This weekend we will focus on the first straight and gates which is always fun and will make for a great session.
The high performance training was awesome; this is the type of training that I love to do. This weekend I will have the video camera and TV set up at the gate and we are going to get our snap’s dialed in. Tomorrow is the first day of the winter season in Morley and the track is ready and dialed in. My dad took a day off of work do finish the bobcat work and a few others finished it from there. I can’t wait to ride this weekend; it’s been way too long.
Just a reminder for the people who are coming out to ride tomorrow, you NEED A LICENSE. This is a sanctioned track and we need to play by ALL the rules. Also make sure to bring water and some T.P, you never know. See you tomorrow.
On Sunday I was out in Morley with the rest of the gang to get the track ready. It was impressive to see a good number of people out there doing what they could to help out. My dad was running the bobcat making and shaping all of the jumps while “The Commissioner” was moving dirt with ‘The big machine.’ It was an outstanding show!
There were always about 5 – 10 people with racks waiting for the next jump to be built, made for a fun day. The track is really good this year, an excellent training track. There are a ton of jumps on all four straight- a- ways that have a great mix for all skill levels. Even though it’s not fully packed the track is going to be ready for the Saturday training day. We packed the track with the use of two quads that were running all day. It made the turns come together perfect, which I spent a lot of effort on with the help of others. They’re going to be really fast and we’re going to spend lots of time on them this Winter. I can’t wait until Saturday; this track is going to be a treat.

I have started to see a new physiotherapist for my back, had to switch it up. The lady who I see is actually the protegè of the lady who fixed my shoulder after both reconstructions, so I know she must know her stuff. Yesterday she hooked me up to an ultra sound machine while putting my core through a workout. She found which muscles in my core and back aren’t working so that we can fix it, and today I am really sore from it. I hope that she’s the one to finally help; I just want to ride!

Hey guys, I had a pretty full and tough week but I wont bore you with too many details. If you are not doing anything this weekend, there is a work party going on out in Morley to get the track ready for the winter season. I know for sure that people will be out there tomorrow (Sunday) and I think there may be some out there today. The more people that help, the less work it is for the people doing it. I was out in Vancouver yesterday looking into a future career, more about that later. So I need to catch up on some studying today, however I will be out there tomorrow. Here is my schedule of the Saturday sessions that I will be holding starting next weekend.
Morley
Camp Cools Saturday Schedule
- 10:00am – 12:30pm – Open Coaching for all skill levels. Every week we will be doing two different sections on the track as well as some off track training to get your bodies as strong as possible, we will do about 30 minutes of off track work on top of the things we do on the track. BRING REGULAR SHOES FOR THIS SESSION. This will be open to all riders, $20 per rider.
- 12:30pm – 4:00pm – Open Track Practice. $15 per rider.
- 4:00pm to 6:00pm – High Performance Training, Open to 10 riders only, you must Pre-Register! You need to be at a high expert or Elite skill level, and it’s a must that you want to work. If you want to be a winner then this is the session you want to be part of. $60 per rider.
If you are doing the morning training session and want to stay for the Open Track session it will be an additional $5 per rider. If you are doing the High Performance Training then I expect you to be an hour early to warm-up and get mentally prepared for the session, there is no extra charge for your open track warm-up.
This weekend will be the first clinic weekend of the winter season in Abbotsford BC; needless to say I’m stoked. It’s going to be a fun weekend as I am going to drive out this time to make it more of a road trip. With me will be Aaron Lepp who will be helping me with the camps, as well as Luke and Cole Wilson who are going to make the trip a fun one.
Again the first camp is on Saturday November 10 and will run from 11:00am to 3:30 pm. The second camp will be on Sunday November 11 and run from 1:00pm to 5:30pm, both camps will be at a cost of $55 per rider or $100 for both camps. I hear the track is great so this weekend will be a lot of fun.
I just talked to Tim Croft of Airdrie BMX and Coaching in Morley is ago. I will have every Saturday for the winter season and am really happy that it all worked out. The first Saturday will be in two weeks on November 24, with a camp in the morning and open track in the afternoon. The high performance training will be in the evening and again is ONLY OPEN FOR 10 KIDS!!!! Its almost full so if you want in you need to let me know, so far everyone who is signed up is either a Jr. or Elite so this will be a fun group.
