Hey guys, there is training today in Morley. I have to let everyone know though, that if not enough people show up then I have to cancel the day. However, there were enough people who said that they will be there, so it should be a go. Also I have some BIG news. I received a phone call from a country who is very high in the UCI rankings to see if I was interested in being there new High Performance and National Team Coach!! They have riders in both Men and Women that are going to be qualified for the Olympics and they want me to help get them there. I would have to move to the other side of the world though, and thats all I will say right now!!! 
Just to start the blog off I want to congratulate my sister. She raced the first two of the European World Cups in St. Etienne France over the weekend with 35 of the fastest girls in the world. The Euro races make the North American races seem like locals! Sam won most of her mottos all day on Saturday making her main. She was in lane two right in-between Reade (W1) and Chausson who coming out, hit bars with and unclipped right out of the gate. Sam said that this race was harder than the Worlds!! Sam is training with Harvey at the UCI training center and loves it, finally she is around people who know what BMX is. Sam’s training partners at the centre finished 1st (Sifiso Nhlapo) and 2nd (Yvan Lapraz) in Elite Men (140 riders) so you know they are getting busy in Switzerland. I don’t have an update on the Sunday race but know Sam didn’t make the main.
Last weekend was a pretty busy one for me, and it’s only getting busier as this week I have my finals at school. Saturday was training in Morley and it was another cold one outside, however they did manage to fix the heaters inside the building so at least the track was warm. We didn’t get a very good turnout for the training, only about 18 kids showed up, which was not even enough kids to pay for the building. I heard from a few of the kids that others are not showing up for the training because there are too many kids involved. So to clear this up, I have enough help and trainers with me that I can support over 50 kids, as we can split the group into two smaller groups. Also, we do need about 25 – 30 kids to make a good clinic, as the riders need rest in between their reps. It is no surprise to me that the kids who do come to training are the ones who are always in first place and all have N1, W#, C1, P1 or what ever letter you want to put in front of that #1 on their plate.
I am also opening the high performance training to younger riders. Again last week I had half the group be a no- show so I let a few younger riders join in and it worked out great. For the record, if you’re telling me that you’re coming, then SHOW UP!!!! If it hadn’t been for the fact I thought everyone was going to show up for the high performance training, I would have cancelled the day all together. So everyone knows, IT COSTS ME $500 A DAY to open the building. Last Saturday I was on the track for 8 hours and barely made my gas money!! I am only trying to help the kids who want to ride fulfill their wish so the larger the group the more fun it is for everyone, and then its worth it for me to hold the Saturday Coaching.
Having said all that if you are coming this weekend for coaching, open track or high performance can you PLEASE LET ME KNOW IN ADVANCE. (And show up) If I don’t have enough kids to pay for the building then I can’t do the training and will have to cancel the day! I’m a little let down that I don’t have the support I thought I would get, even after I cancelled all my USA side camps this Winter so I can concentrate on the Canadian kids.
Abbotsford was a pretty good day on Sunday. It was on a new track that they built last week. It was a basic track that was targeted for the younger kids. No rhythm section or big jumps but they do have some really nice turns this time around, which made it easy to do turn drills for once. Turns are my favorite to teach, however, it’s usually hard to do them in a camp.
Again I am getting all the fast kids out to the camp, all the W plates and N#1 were out to train. I love going out to Abby to do camps because they treat me so well out there, and the kids LOVE to train. Thanks to all the lovely women out there who make my trips sooooo easy, you guys rock. And of course, thank you Mr. Baxter. I don’t have a date set for January yet but give me to the end of the week and I will post that info for you.
Thanks to all the riders who came out to help me with the demonstrations, as I can’t ride a bike. The man with the biggest boobs and smile in BMX, Lenny K! By the way Lenny, I love your new bike. Mike Erwin, who I think right now, is the fastest Jr. Elite in Canada. He is a very coachable and a likeable rider and I know we should all expect big things from Erwin in the future. Also the Redneck Jesse Horompoly who maybe the toughest kid in BMX, slid out in the first turn and took a pylon to the throat, pretty scary situation and I hope your feeling better. Damian Lachance also came out to help. Most of you don’t know who Damian is, but by this summer EVERYONE IN CANADA will want their plate signed by him. He has moved to BC from Ontario, hooked up with the local Pros, got on my training program, and wants to win. I am putting everyone on notice right now!!! Just watch. Anyway, I have to go study for the next few days. Hope to see you on Saturday.

I just received this picture of Aaron when he crashed at the Canadian Championships in Bromont QC. His chain snapped just before he hit this jump and this was the aftermath, putting Aaron out of the race. Brendan Arnold (Ontario Coach) sent it to me, thanks buddy.
Just to clear a few things up, there WILL be training in Morley this weekend. I am going to fly out to Abbotsford Sunday morning so we wont miss out on anything in Morley. Last weekend a few Mountain Bikers came out to do open track. For any of you “Big Wheel Guys” who want to come out to do the coaching in the morning, you are more than welcome. I would actually like to do a Mountain Bike Only camp for you guys. Coaching starts on Saturday morning at 10 am for a cost of $20 and make sure you have a license.

It’s been really cold up here, -25°C (-13°F) with the wind chill. I hate it and I don’t know how I live in this stuff, when school is done I’m headed to where it’s warmer. Last weekend was a pretty poor turn out for coaching in Morley, probably due to the weather. However the riders that did show up all had a really good day. Most of these kids haven’t ridden in a few months so everyone is really excited about riding and really liking the track. My back was working pretty well and I was able to ride a whole bunch, thanks to my new Physiotherapist I may even be good enough to race this year.
This weekend will be a lot warmer than the last one so I am sure that there will be a greater number of riders. I have spots open for this weekends High Performance Training. Last weekend half of my group was a no show for this training session so, if you are signing up for it then please show up. Since I am limiting it to 10 kids I need to make sure that the kids I have on my list show up.
This weekend I will be in Abbotsford on Sunday. I will be putting on a one-day camp that will run from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm for a cost of $55 per rider. Not quite sure who I will be using as my trainers for this weekend but I will have a top-notch crew of Elites helping me out. The track will be completed at the end of the week so it will be exciting to see what kind of track it will be. As always, this camp is open for all ages and skill levels, I will help you get to the next level no matter what level you are riding at.
