Today was an awesome day up in Red Deer, 7 trainers and low number of kids on a new track made for a great day. I will have a full update about the weekend tomorrow night when I am sitting in an airport. We will be starting at 9:00 am tomorrow to get another hour of the morning cool and end off at 2:00 pm so you will still have the afternoon/evening to enjoy the hot day. If you want to come out tomorrow the day is still open to all riders. We only did half the track today it was so fun so tomorrow we will do the other two straight. 4 of my trainers hit the new pro section with ease today!

Spent today finalizing the training programs for Marc and Sarah from here to the games. Pretty exciting times but at the same time I think that the next two months are going to fly by. Next week we will be in Chula Vista training on the Olympic Replica track and hanging out in California. We will be there for 3 weeks and then I come home to Canada for a two-week stint before I head out to China.
This weekend will be a camp up in Red Deer, which I am really excited about. It will be on a new track, which is holding a CCA Canada Cup race in a few weeks so it will be fun to get the kids dialed in. If you are going to attend this race then this would be the perfect opportunity to get good on this track.
Friday will be a Novice only camp from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and is open to all Novice riders from all tracks. It will be a great time to get those kids who are fresh in the sport having fun on their bikes.
The weekend will be a typical Camp Cools Camp that will push all skill levels no matter where you are at or what age you race. I will have a great crew consisting of myself, Aaron Lepp, Sam Leuck and Shane Clarke. The time of the camp will run from 10am to 3pm both days and is open to all, registration will be held just before the start of the camp. Let me know if you have any questions. Yesterday my Dad, brother Greg and I hiked up to Headwall Lake in Kananaskis Country and today I am feeling the hurt. It was about a 3 hr hike up to the top of the Mountain to get to the smaller of the two lakes; it felt like it was straight up. There were a few spots that were covered with either a snow avalanche or a rockslide that was very hard to walk across and pretty dangerous. It was fun for the most part but I think that it was just a little too long a hike for a fishing trip.
When we finally got to the top, about %75 of it was still frozen over so we were limited on where we could fish. I ended up catching 3 fish of decent size and my brother caught 2, unfortunately for my Dad, he got skunked.
It was good to get out and go fishing with my Dad and Greg but next time I think we are going to go to a place were you can drive. I would like to do this hike again in August before I head out to Beijing though, its crazy how beautiful it was up there and how good the air smelled.
This past weekend was the NBL race in Prunedale, one of the top tracks in the USA. Marc Willers placed 3rd both days behind Kyle Bennett. Don’t know too much about the race but will find out more. Two podiums at a race like this is pretty impressive since I had him train right through the race with no rest, the one we really care about is in Beijing two months away.

Today is Jenn’s birthday and I want to wish her a very happy birthday. Fortunately for me, my wife is like a fine wine and gets better with age.
This morning I sent her out to the Still Water Spa at the Hyatt, we spent our Anniversary there and it’s awesome, hope she has a great day.

First off I want to thank Mikey Day for betting me that Boston won’t win the NBA Championships, they did in style and I am $500 richer. I’m sure Mike won’t mind as he won the USA trials race last weekend and secured his spot on the toughest team in BMX to make, the USA Olympic team.
Right now Marc is down in California spending some time at Dale Holmes house so he can ride with all the top AA’s. He went to the race and said it was unreal and that the track is awesome. I will be in San Diego for the month of July with the NZ squad getting some top end training in before we head out to Beijing. We get to ride the track for the first two weeks but then will be riding at Redman’s and some other places and I am really looking forward to it.
I talked to Bubba this morning and he has surgery scheduled on his bad ankle this Friday. That is great that he will finally get it fixed, however he will be in a wheel chair for a couple of months with one ankle broken and the other healing from the operation.
This weekend I am going fishing with my dad and brother. We haven’t gone for a while and I’m up for some suggestions from anyone. I want to go out to the mountains, Kananaskis Country and maybe up for a 1-hour hike to get to the spot. Anyone have any spots they want to tell me about email me at kencools@shaw.ca.

I have had a lazy couple of days, other than doing stuff around our house I haven’t done much. Five days of camps in a row killed me. It’s a lot of work to handle all those kids for a day, however the kids I have are usually really cool and we have a lot of fun. This past weekend in Stony Plain was one of those camps.
We have been going up to Stony for 3 years now and it’s always a good time and they’re always really good to us. Each year the track gets better and better and this year they have dialed in their gate and paved the starting hill. The club is really excited about the provincial in a few weeks and they are ready. The kids that showed up were all really ready to ride and we had an awesome weekend and the kids really got allot out of the camp. It seems that I get most of my Alberta support starting from Red Deer and northern Alberta. I don’t even have a camp scheduled for any tracks down here, I don’t know why?
The good thing is that next weekend we will be doing a camp in Red Deer. This is a totally brand new track that my dad built and designed and I hear that it’s really good. In fact Aaron got the call that they needed us up there to jump the Pro section or else they have to plow it. I don’t get it, it’s a Pro section, if a 15 year old can’t hit it, then it’s a good pro section. I hope that they keep it, as the Elites need something to ride so that they can keep up on the International circuit.
I will be doing a Novice-only camp in Red Deer the Friday night before the camp. It will be open to Beginner/Novice riders only and will be great for those that don’t want to do the weekend or want to warm up for the weekend. The camp will run for 2.5 – 3 hours and be at a cost of $35 per rider and is open to all kids from all tracks. The weekend camp is also open to all and anyone can show up, if you’re ready to ride.

I’m hanging out in the hotel room with Jenn and Avrianna watching Tree House, extremely stimulating stuff. Tonight will be the last night of camps in Langley, which have been going really well other then the lack of kids. The first night I only had 8 kids and last night we had 12 kids, something that I was not expecting. However, the kids that are here are great and got lots of 1 on 1 training as I had 5 trainers last night. Thanks to the guys who are helping me out, Jesse Hormopoly, Nick Gortzen, Mike Irwin and Lenny Kilgour. These guys are great, I just wish more kids would have showed up.
Bad news about Bubba if you have not heard yet. Yesterday morning during the Media Practice at Chula Vista, Bubba blew out of his clip going up the lip of a jump. This thru him off the lip in a 360 and landing on his GOOD ankle. He ended up breaking his good ankle and will be in an air cast for 2 months. I talked to him when he was in the hospital and he was really upset that his Olympic dreams were over. Sorry dude. I just hope he takes this time off and gets his other ankle fixed! He said he is going to come up to my house and hang out when I am home for a week or so.
This weekend is the camp up in Stony Plain, Alberta. I know that it may be a bit wet here and there this weekend but we will make this camp happen, even if we got to come back up in the next few weeks. For more info check out my “events” tab to get what you need.
Bill over at Supercross sent me my new cranks last week and I finally put them on my bike. It’s been a rainy weekend so I didn’t leave my place too many times other than to the Calgary track. My jet lag is still really bad and I just can’t adjust very well, so I didn’t hang out too much at the race on Sunday. If someone wants to submit something on the provincial then email it to me.
Mikey Day and I bet on the NBA a while ago when the playoffs started. We bet $100, I bet on the Celtics and he on the Lakers. If they both ended up in the finals then it went up to $500 and they both are in the finals. So far my Celtics have kicked the crap out of the Lakers and I am up 2-0.

The only bad thing about coming home is the jet-lag you get with traveling to the other side of the world. I feel like a zombie right now, so tired all day but then I am up from midnight to 5:00 am, then up again when Avri gets up, sucks!
On Monday my sister has a CBC camera crew following her around for a few days to get some footage of her. They are going to spend the day here hanging out with Jenn, Avrianna and I. Because of this, today has been dedicated to getting our home in order and that has even tired me out more.
This weekend is the Provincial in Calgary and its not looking too good outside. I think it’s going to rain all weekend like it is right now. I will be headed down to the track in a little while to set up the tent for my team so there will be a dry spot to hang out under. Im not riding this weekend, I actually haven’t touched my bike in 4 months.
As far as having some time for camps this summer, I have a few dates coming up, June 21, 22 or July 13, 14. I also want to do something the last week of July, first week of August before I head out to China.
